The drawbacks of living in old town Naples were lack of bank ATMs and discount supermarkets. I got up early to shop at MD discount for gifts to take to Taiwan that can be carried on (to avoid the nightmare of 2-hr luggage check lines and lost luggage). I also got a bottle of 17% pistachio cello (tasted better than Limoncello) for myself (drinking on your behalf since no carry on).
I was short on euros to tip walking tours and buy from the traditional markets, yet Italian postal offices have long lines and their ATMs have no English. I found some ATMs on the way to the botanic garden. Several Italian bank ATMs forced me to take their exchange rates, but I finally withdrew from BNL bank using my US bank exchange rate.
Three museums I wanted to visit were temporarily closed: Museum of Human Anatomy (with wax replicas of human organs and a one-eyed head and a two-faced head preserved in alcohol), Museum of Musical History (with antique musical instruments, and a library of material related to composers who lived in Naples), and Cimitero delle Fontanelle. What a pity!
I signed up an 4 pm walking tour (canceled due to guide sickness), switched to an street art tour (cancelled due to low attendance), so I finally took a 5 pm walking tour but just did half to skip the duplications with old town tour.
I walked to the Castle dell'Ovo to enjoy the ocean views (that I forgot to cover yesterday afternoon along the boulevard walk. Then I walked 2.5 miles back to my hostel.
