One formal colleague invited me to a work lunch to discuss a travel venture seminar sponsored by the Arabic Department alumni association of National Chengchi University. The seminar features the three explorers who completed the Finding the Genghis Khan Expedition 尋找成吉思汗遠征隊in 2 years since 2000 by Walking, horseback riding, camel, boating and other ancient modes of transportation, following the route of Genghis Khan's westward expedition, from the east of Outer Mongolia to the Crimea Peninsula in the Black Sea, for 11,000 kilometers.
One of the explorers 賴信宏 (Lulala Batu) was there. Top Podcaster許庭棟hosts 旅遊快門 (who will be the MC for the seminar) was there too. I might join via Zoom if they decide to include my backpacker traveling experience in Central Asia. It was intriguing to hear Batu’s experience.
“You are not too old and it is not too late” - Rainer Maria Rilke. However, it was simply out of my bandwidth to walk full-time for 2 years, much less in under-developed areas.
My 2nd appointment was to meet a new friend George introduced by a common friend, to understand how he helps Taiwanese bilingual high-school students to apply for US universities, and to see if there is anything I can help.
My third appointment was to meet another formal colleague at the Howard Hotel coffee shop to see how he has been doing after retiring from a venture capital fund.
Then I picked up my new eye glasses and long term contact lenses, shopped in a different night market (臨江街觀光夜市）and got dinner in the night market.
