I took a bus from Sigulda to Riga in the morning then checked in my hotel single room (for 3 nights). It was 1 mile from the city center, so I will walk every day to the center.
I took the 12 noon Alternative Riga free tour to the Market & Moscow District and get a better understanding of daily life in Riga. For example, the Central Markets of Riga, home to huge pavilions made from reused Zeppelin hangars, now one of the largest covered, permanent markets in Europe. We also visited the Warehouse district, Moscow district and wooden houses, The Science Academy and Central Riga.
I then walked over the bridge to check out the Kipsala island and Kalnciema Quarter. When I rushed back to the Central Markets of Riga, the fish sector was closed, so I had grass-feed beef vege pasta for dinner.
