Exploring Vilnius

I went back to the sights mentioned during the walking tours that interested me, such as Cathedral Square plaza, Gediminas Castle and Castle Tower (yet footpath closed), Three Crosses / Trys kryžiai (best overlooks of the old town), and The Gates of Dawn.

In particular, I located (1) the tile named “Stebuklas” (“miracle” in Lithuanian) for its magical, wish-granting properties; (2) the foot-print tile of the 1st person of the two million people joined hands across Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia to make the Baltic way, the longest unbroken human chain in history, spanning over 370 miles on 8/23/1989 as a powerful statement to their Soviet government and also imparted a deeply emotional message of human rights and national sovereignty to the world at large, leading to the restoration of each country’s freedom by 1991; and (3) a pilgrimage path sign on Cathedral Square plaza.

I also visited other sites I found online, such as the Church of St. Theresa, Vilnius Choral Synagogue (not open to the public), and Rasu Cemetery (Rasu kapines, as a substitute for Hill of Crosses Kryžių Kalnas at Šiauliai where is hard to get to by bus).

Today was portably the most holy day in my life, because I visited over 12 churches and stayed at least 10 minutes in 5 churches during their Sunday services. I cooked some Chinese frozen dumplings for dinner to reward my efforts.
