We were so lucky to hike Trolltunga (the troll’s tongue) in a cool and dry day for 22 km with 800 meters elevation gain. Trolltunga is one of the most awe-inspiring cliffs in Norway, situated about 1,100 meters above sea level and hovering some 700 metres above Lake Ringedalsvatnet. The hike through high-mountain terrain up to Trolltunga is long and demanding, yet rewarding with magnificent views. We walked via snow 10% of the time.
A troll is a being in Nordic folklore, including Norse mythology, that dwell in isolated areas of rocks, mountains, or caves, live together in small family units, and are rarely helpful to human beings.
